In August 1951 Ministry of Automobile and Tractor Industry of the USSR signed the Order on Organization of Bearing Repair Works in the city of Grodno.
It was difficult post-war period for Belorussian Republic. The country started increasing recovery rate in the field of economy, extending volume of automobile and tractor fleet. Thus, spare parts were needed badly to restore extremely devastated machine park. New production facilities having been prepared in the shortest possible time, a new industrial site was put into operation in 1951.

Labor enthusiasm that prevailed in those years all around the country determined to great extent the dynamics of output growth. 10 000 bearings were repaired in 1952 and in 1955 this figure increased to 226 000 pieces.
In 1955 the Council of Ministers of the USSR reorganized the Grodno Bearing Repair Works into Avtozapchast Works.
In 1959 the first lot of Belorussian driveshafts was produced. The agenda has moved the issue of reconstruction and expansion of production facilities. At this stage of a large-scale deployment they started capital construction (1957), installation of new equipment (1959) and launch of Forging and Press Division (1965). Having prepared the necessary industrial base, the company started with the production of driveshafts, which gave the name to the company in 1969 - Grodno Driveshaft Works. The products were shipped throughout the Soviet Union to transfer lines of MAZ, ZIL, UralAZ, LAZ manufacturers.
In 1970 the first stage of Mechanical Assembly Division was commissioned. In 1975 the construction of new housing for the Forging Division was completed, the capacity being 150 000 tons of forgings per year. The company mastered the production of goods for the Kirov Tractor Works, started pre-production for BelAZ driveshafts. The cooperation with MTZ, KAMAZ and other factories began to gather pace. In 1989 they created Specialized Design Bureau.
The proper business strategy allowed the company to survive during the collapse of the Soviet Union and perestroika.
On February 28, 1995 the Order of the Ministry for State Property Management and Privatization of Belarus reorganized Grodno Driveshaft Works into Belcard Joint - Stock Company. Decision of Grodno city executive committee № 258 of April 14, 2007 reorganized Belcard JSC by merging with Grodno Plant of Automobile Units.
